High Rankings in Google
Hi everyone,
I like Google but, we had an issue. Now resolved, but this could happen to you.
As a webmaster of many websites, I see my ranking change when changes it's algorithm. This is the criteria used to decide who has been value. In my AdWords account for a site called DiscountWatchesUSA.com, my ad was running just fine for months. Then in late July and August, I received all lows scores for my keywords. No matter what keyword I used, Google put a low quality score and ad will not be shown. Now, I sell watches. Even "watches" would not show.
The cause, poor landing page quality. But here is the deal, I sell watches. My content is watches. They are discounted. I have the brands listed and for 6 months my site has been fine. I knew Google wants to see more content, but hey, I am an e-commerce website. I shouldn't have to write articles about the history of watches. I shouldn't have to show 100 watches on page instead of 25 because it will show more watches and increases the content. Why do I have make my site bad, so Google will deem it worthy?
So, I write Google. I get these canned messages for weeks. In frustration, I tell them as a paying customer, AdWords cost money, so I expect some customer service. I went through these laborious FAQs, Help, which never answered my question. What changed?
Finally, I had a person that responded to my issue with DiscountWatchesUSA.com. I read all the criteria for landing page quality, but the deal was, it was no different that day, than it was in January. So, why is it not showing?
On top of that. I had several landing pages. You know you can add keywords with a spreadsheet and specify keyword to URL (landing page). So which landing page? It did not make sense. Soon, it was mystery fixed. All is back to normal. I ask why, and they can't answer it.
So, I was down for 6 weeks because:
I sell watches and that is what I do plain and simple. Free Shipping and I donate profits to the Humane Society.

- I couldn't get a hold of a person
- I couldn't even get to a form with a comment box
- I received responses that were canned and just told me to read the FAQ
- They never did answer the question as to why
- I never did get an apology
- I was left with feeling very uncertain about Google.

Free Tools to Advertize on the Web

Vol 1. 1 - 02/24/2010
Where do I start to market my business?
* First, you have to define your goals. Are you an e-commerce site, do you sell something? If you do sell, is it regional? Is it a service or products to ship? Are you promoting a cause or writing blogs?
* Second, if you need a drop shipper list, we can provide that for you as well. And I might warn you of the pitfalls. Out of a list we bought of 200, maybe 20 are any good. See email below.
* Either way, you still want traffic and in the case of selling, you want not just hits or visitors but customers.
* Define what your goal is and the time frame. If you call someone like GSConsulting2010, you need to let the consultant or web developer know up front what you want and when.
* As we move through the lessons, I am going to use DiscountWatchesUSA.com, where you can see how a real live site evolves.
------ FREE GIFT with every Purchase -------
Is this an ad?????? Did it catch your attention? I have found over the past 2 years FREE tools or apps. Free tools to submit your website to over 50 search engines and 100 international, tools to create sitemaps, robots.txt, RSS feeds and more. Free logo makers and banners. Download free icons, images and photography free to use on your site. Really good keyword search tools. Lists of drop shippers for e-commerce. All of these I put in my Toolbox and if you play nicely, I will share.
What is Google Analytics?
FREE
* This is a FREE tool or application Google provides to webmasters. All you do is put a small snippet of code in your home page. Google will now keep track of the number of visitors that come to your site, how long they stay, where they came from and what pages they landed on. Not to mention, much, much more.
* There are Graphs, Reporting Tools, Download to Spreadsheets functionality and so on. Here is a short video that tour at: http://services.google.com/analytics/tour/index_en-US.html
* You need to know if you are improving. If you redesign your home page and want to see if traffic increases, well, here are your numbers. You can pay for WebTrends and other applications but why when it is FREE.
* As a reminder, when I am done, I will further explain how to get the FREE tools, the best and the worst of them. Too many people try to rip you off.
What is Pay Per Clicks (PPC)?
COST
* These are 'sponsored ads', where the higher the bid, the higher up on the search engine results for Google.
* A chief economist from Google explains AdWords. You can see the movie at:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7l0a2PVhPQ
* You can also have Google email you $100 promo code. $100 bucks of clicks.
COST
DON'T DO IT !!, DON'T BOTHER !!, DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY
* You know Bing and Yahoo are merging because they know their ability to market your site with their search engines aren't working.
* Read an email Microsoft sent me. I received a similar one from Yahoo too.
Dear kip,
Microsoft® and Yahoo! have now received regulatory clearance to form the Yahoo! and Microsoft Search Alliance in the United States and European Union. This milestone is an exciting step in our effort to give your business a time-saving and cost-efficient way to connect with a larger combined audience of potential customers.
How the Yahoo! and Microsoft Search Alliance benefits you
After the Yahoo! and Microsoft Search Alliance is implemented, you will:
* Reach more potential customers: Search ad inventory from both the Yahoo! and Microsoft networks will be joined in a new, unified search marketplace powered by Bing™ , with a combined audience of over 150 million searchers in the U.S and nearly 577 million searchers worldwide.1
* Save valuable time and effort: You'll use a single platform—Microsoft adCenter—to manage your campaigns easier and faster. With just one buy, your search ads will reach users on Bing, Yahoo!, and other premium partner sites and networks, such as The Wall Street Journal Digital Network, msnbc.com, FoxSports.com, Facebook, and Buy.com.
What's ahead
For now, it's business as usual; there is no change to your account or service. Your ads will continue to serve on Bing search results pages, and you will continue to receive the same great service from Microsoft.
Both companies are committed to making this transition a seamless experience. Our goal is to bring the Yahoo! and Microsoft Search Alliance to the U.S. by the end of 2010, prior to the crucial holiday season, with additional countries following on a staggered schedule beginning in 2011. As our transition dates approach, we will contact you with information about what to do next. In order to ensure you continue to receive important service updates, please verify your contact information is current in Microsoft adCenter. View our help topic: Change contact information. How to learn more
In the meantime, you can familiarize yourself with the Yahoo! and Microsoft Search Alliance by visiting our new resource, searchalliance.com, where you'll find plenty of additional details, including press releases, FAQs, and more!
We appreciate your business and look forward to bringing you the benefits of the Yahoo! and Microsoft Search Alliance.
Sincerely,
The Microsoft adCenter Team
